Job Summary & Essential Functions:

Suits up in protective paint suit and air-supplied respirator, gathers appropriate interior painting equipment, enters and exits railcar on approval of attendant, spray paints linings on the interior of railcars, and repairs interior lining paintwork. This position is an essential part of our quality program and is directly involved in all aspects of quality control.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

·       Suits up in protective paint suit and air-supplied respirator to prepare for spray painting.

·       Gathers appropriate interior painting equipment for lining railcars, including scaffolding.

·       Only enters and exits the railcar upon approval of entry attendant in accordance with confined space procedures.

·       Spray paints linings on the interior of railcars using interior spray painting equipment.

·       When interior lining/paintwork has been identified as needing to be repaired, prepares and relines/repairs interior paintwork.

·       Uses specific gauges to ensure that sprayed coating is to the required thickness and consistency.

·       Trouble shoots, maintains, and cleans paint equipment.

·       Ensures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintained.

·       Performs other duties as directed by the Group Leader - Paint.

·       Maintains Quality Assurance programs and procedures by performing daily duties in accordance with the Quality Assurance program.

 

Required Experience / Education / Training / Certifications:  

·       Prefer a high school education or equivalent, and   previous experience spray painting.

·       Must be willing to undergo on-the-job spray paint training.

·       In-house training and qualification

General Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in US now and in future without sponsorship.

  • Demonstrate job related computational knowledge - for example, be able to read a gauge, a decal blueprint, or a ruler.

  • Must have good manual dexterity to operate equipment.

Environmental Conditions

  • Moderate to heavy lifting.

  • Climbing, ascending, or descending ladders.

  • Lifting and carrying of tools and equipment up to 60-65 lbs.

  • Inside and outside work in varies weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Will be required to use and work with hazardous chemicals during his/her duties and , therefore, must be medically approved by a doctor to wear a respirator before employee can start work (Occupational Safety and Health Administration Standard 29 CFR 1910.134 (b) (10))- Respiratory Protection.
